Baby lotion longings...

Have you ever just missed the smell of baby lotion when your baby has gotten too old for it? I do often; especially when I do an infant shoot I am reminded of how sweet and magical that smell is.

It conjures up wonderful memories of my babies and the days when their needs were so simple and having them in my arms and starting at every detail of their faces, hands and toes was a daily ritual.

Miss Molly made all of these memories flood back thank you sweet baby girl...

Oregon Coast....

Our trip to Oregon this Summer was special. My kids came home to Az saying "I love the Beach in Oregon". The have decided that we need to move there. That is not happening but I think a trip back is definetly in the works. My oldest learned how to surf and my younger ones loved the water and the sand.

We made sandcastles, climbed a huge sand hill, found crabs and touched sea anenomes. It was magical.

Part of our trip to Oregon was shooting my cousin Chrissy's Wedding on the beautiful Willamette River. They were married on the Wilammete Queen a historical sternwheeler. The setting was perfect and the weather even more perfect. I will share some pics soon.

Another purpose for our trip was to shoot my cousin Mike's engagement pictures in Pacific City. It was nothing short of BEAUTIFUl! We spent the day there with our family and then my Dad and I met up with Mike and Lindy to do their pictures. It was such a fun shoot and Mike and Lindy were up for anything. My Dad is so great to work with it was our first time working together and we had a good time.

Oregon Coast goodness that is my new saying for our trip... It was a great getaway. More pics to come.

It was so fun working with these two kiddos again. We did a mini session which is something I have not really done before. I am thinking about incorporating mini sessions into my schedule in the future. It works great for little ones because the session is quick and simple. More info on that to come.

My 5 year old is sure that he and Thais are getting married in the future so I am glad to have these shots just in case :)

A new way...

This is my sweet Carter (middle) and his two Preschool buddies. We were done with preschool work a little early one day this last Spring and so we had time for a photo-op. The boys didn't last long but I think we got some genuine shots of each of them. Such funny boys.

I have been feeling like I have alot of adjusting to do these days and sending my baby boy off to Kindergarten is one of the biggest. As I was running errands today I was trying to imagine my day to day in the Fall without this little man. It was sweet and sour. Why is it that the milestones we look forward to in life can end up being the toughest experiences we have sometimes.

I am excited to have a little time to myself I admit it! I promise I am not feeling bad for myself I guess I am just contemplating my new normal.

My idea of a new normal... More Photography time, Volunteer at school, cleaning out much neglected closets, lunch with friends, learn to do something new.

My Beautiful Sister

This is my Sister Amy and her sweet family. She was my protector when we were growing up. My Brothers didn't have a chance against her. Our room was her bone of contention with me, she would give up and just clean our room to avoid a disagreement. She cannot believe that I know how to clean and keep things tidy now it must have been all of those years of watching and learning :).

I was honored to take their family pictures when they visited and I have to admit that she can do no wrong in my eyes. She is a wonderful Mom, Wife, Friend and Sister. Her kiddos are so dear to me and we are thankful when they visit because our kids are crazy about Uncle Shawn and Aunt Amy they make them feel so special.

One more thing my Sister is crazy talented she sews, cooks and crafts and I will have to spotlight some of her creations soon.

One thing I can count on in Mommyhood is being surprised. Sometimes I feel like I am in the movie Groundhogs day (same thing different day). I am not complaining I actually would choose this over many other scenarios but I have so many days where my kids delight and surprise me and remind me in their own way that what I am doing is of great worth.

My 11 year old left me this note on our counter a few Saturdays ago. I was having a particularly hard day and when I came in from a huge grocery shopping trip and saw this I instantly felt at peace and knew for the millionth time that being a Mom is the best job ever.

Jolee was beaming before the Daddy Daughter Dance. Hair crimping, lots of sparkles and lipstick yeah, yeah I know... Made her feel so FANCY. I have to admit I am a girlie girl at heart and getting her ready was as fun for me as it was for her I think. Dad wore a suit and Jolee said he looked like our Bishop from Church.

Roger wasn't sure about the twirling that she wanted to do at the dance he kept telling her he didn't know how to dance. Dad came through though he twirled her a billion times she said and I am not sure if I have seen her that happy in a long time. It really is the simple things....

This year we are as my husband likes to put it starting a new trend ha ha!!!! New Years Cards. I have a feeling we are on our own on with this one forever however. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and that your New Years is great. Our Christmas was one of my favorites ever. We had my Sister and Brother and their families here at our home and we had a blast. The cousins enjoyed being together and the adults laughed till they couldn't laugh anymore. Fab memories! I am out of the office for the rest of the week but I will be back on Monday ready to rock and roll.

I am sitting here in the wee hours of the morning and am trying to get some of the things done that have been on my to do list. I wish each day had 48 hrs. I could get so much done. Christmas is coming so soon and I haven't even done my kids pics yet. I love my Sister we are really close and look forward to talking on the phone every week. When were were young we were surrounded by 4 rowdy brothers and we really stuck together because of that. I am so grateful for a wonderful Sister and I am super excited to have her come for Christmas. I have not seen her in 4 years so this visit is so special and long awaited. The countdown is on Amy only 10 more days. Pictures like this one of these sweet Sisters remind me of when we were young and the bond that we had.

I want to see the world through my kiddos eyes. This is something that has been on my mind lately. You know that carefree, simple appreciation for everything they come in contact with. The ablility to forget what happened two seconds earlier when they see an object or experience something that fascinates them. I officially stink at this many times. In fact if I am being completely honest almost daily my little ones will point out beautiful things that I don't even notice.

I feel so blessed to be a Mom. To be able watch my children explore this amazing world we live in and vow to do a better job of seeing the world through their eyes. I want to stop what I am doing and experience it with them.

O.K. I know, I know I am a week late. We have had lot's of flu and sickness over here :( But I am back and ready to get going again. This list is from Erika and I love reading it because it reminds me to look to the amazing women around me to feel inpired. Enjoy....

1. For the most part I am inspired by people; Moms mostly. I’m inspired by the stay at home mom, the grandmother, single mothers, crafty moms, the type-A personality moms, and working mothers. I can honestly say that I have been lucky enough to have been inspired by every mom in my life.

2. I’m always inspired by nature- bodies of water, full-grown trees, black dirt, gardens, lush green grass…

3. Cooking shows, cookbooks, cooking magazines, the grocery store. I love food so I can easily find inspiration for the next meal just about anywhere.

4. Books. From historical fiction to chick-lit, I can almost always find something inspiring in a book.

5. Traveling inspires me to be open-minded and appreciative.

6. Music.

7. My sisters inspire my confidence.

8. As silly as it seems, I’m inspired by holidays and birthdays. They inspire me to be creative.

9. My parents inspire me on so many levels.

10. And finally, I am inspired by my husband and two girls. They inspire me to be the best me that I can be. :o)

A new goal....

I have a new goal of doing Birthday pictures for the kids every year but I am putting a twist on it! I have decided to do something special that will showcase them and who they are. I told my J to pick out some things to bring for props and some things that were her favorites as far as clothes go (with a little help:) and this is one of the pics we came up with. She wanted this pose and I couldn't have been happier. I would never have asked her to lay in a field because I would have probably gotten a resounding no... But because it was her idea it feels real and I will cherish this picture forever because of that. P.S. Gotta love the Spongebob band-aid (had to keep it because it is just who she is right now, she loves him by the way and in 10 years we will have a good laugh over it I am sure).

It was great to work with this adorable family again. The weather is getting so nice so it was the perfect time of day to play and catch pics. At one location we found hundreds of Ladybugs and the kids loved catching them. Yeah, Yeah I know Christmas music already? I start a little early with it every year; my Sister and me have this tradition so I just can't help myself....

I am so excited to be offering Christmas Photo Cards to my Customers. Each of these photo cards has a front and back and I absolutely LOVE them.... I actually have a bunch more but haven't had time to get them ready to post. This is just a sneak peek I haven't figured out pricing but they will be affordable for sure and I will plug your pics into them and burn them on disc so that you can go and print wherever you like. I love that these are something you won't find just anywhere. If you click on the pics they will pop up large so that you can check them out up close.

I just want to put a shout out to all of you that leave comments... I really appreciate hearing from you. I love hearing what you have to say and the support means alot. I am doing a contest. I am offering a free single child shoot with two edits of your choice to be redeemed in January or February to the first person to leave 10 comments in a row, one stipulation is they have to be comments on new photos that I post from here on out and must be done on 10 different posts. This shoot will be fun because I am going to try to do some things I haven't done before use a new prop, location, edit etc. I have been wanting to run a contest of sorts but haven't been sure what to do.
